About Us
How we became the FRUSTRATED FARMERS
Russel and Cindy Bolen took over the Bolen Family farm in the small town of Jaffray B.C. Located in the beautiful East Kootenays in the year 2000.
We tried having our cattle, a few horses, chickens, 2 pigs and a garden but we both had to have full time jobs to make ends meet.
Cindy worked at the Elko sawmill until a vehicle accident put a stop to that.
Russel is a butcher by trade. But he worked in the sawmill in Cranbrook until he was hired by the Federal Government as Meat Inspector, where he worked until the Province took over the inspections. Then he was given the choice to be transferred or be laid off. You can't run a ranch in B.C. and work who knows where, so he chose to be laid off. "Frustrated" you bet.
The Ranch Has to Be sustainable.
Instead of being just Lazy B Ranch, we became THE FRUSTRATED FARMERS. We have to stay afloat.
We decided to offer the same great tasting food we eat to the public. We love our Ranch and all things about it. We had a lot to learn and are still learning every day. The land is what is most important. Keeping the land healthy sustains everything we do on it.
Our Meat Products.
Pork, Beef, Lamb, Chickens and Turkeys are what we are raising at the present time.
All our animals are raised as naturally and humanely as we can. No Steroids. Anything that needs antibiotics certainly will have them, but will not be sold to any of our customers. Those animals can be and will be sold through an auction. We love all our animals and we think they like us to.
Our Vegetables.
We grow vegetables, not just for the customers, we eat them as well. We like to know that there are no chemicals on our food. If pests are a problem then we have to figure out how Mother Nature would look after them and just help her out a bit. There is no vegetable in any store that will compare to vine ripened food freshly picked for you.
